A Three-Phased Approach

At Involve Church, we believe leadership development is not only vital to the continued future of the Church, but is a continuation of the discipleship process handed to us by Christ Himself (Matthew 28:18-20). We take this process very seriously - it is not just theological education that is needed in the development of leaders, but also practical experience and development of a future leader's walk with God. Because of this, our overall leadership development plan takes a three-phased approach: Step Up, Step Forward, and Step Out.

Step Up - Phase 1

This is the first step in leadership development and is designed to expand your capacity as a potential leaders in society and the church. It spans a time period of 12 months, meeting one Saturday per month and covering a variety of leadership topics. By the time you have completed Step Up, you will have a firm grasp on what is required to move forward in leading people and yourself well, specifially in the context of the local church.

Step Forward - Phase 2

In the second phase of our leadership development, we engage you in a roughly 36-month training that covers theology, practical ministry experience, and attention to your personal walk with God while engaging in ministry in the local church and community. Step Forward is primarily for those looking to be trained for a future in a vocational ministry job. This can include a variety of ministry paths and is not limited to pastoral ministry.

Step Out - Phase 3

This phase of our leadership development is designed to give you the chance to gain practical ministry experience in preparation for vocational ministry. In general, the focus of this 12-month phase is on equipping you to start a church plant or revitalize a church, but is not necessarily limited to this role. Because of this emphasis, the focus will be primarily on honing pastoral skills and a recommendation for future ministry roles will accompany the conclusion.
